Consider different perspectives

  • Everyone comes from a different background, has different experiences, and therefore sees things differently. I am sure your father or mother doesn’t think exactly like you in all scenarios.

  • So, next time when you’re in a problem, look at the same situation through the eyes of your mentor and family and then ask yourself how they would approach it? Take each one of the angles into consideration.

  • In your life, there is bound to be someone you dislike but others seem to like. Why’s that? What admirable qualities are they seeing that you don’t? As you get to know someone, find out how they were raised, their mental attitude, social status, and insecurities. Don’t just look at people as to how you want to perceive them. Get to know them from all angles.

  • Life is not black and white. What seems right to you might appear wrong to someone else. It’s your opinion versus theirs. So, take a broad perspective on your current situation because, occasionally, things make more sense from a different angle.

  • Understand your own biases and apply your reasoning instead of letting your emotions take over. Most of the time, what’s most helpful is to argue for the opposing side and allow yourself to think their way.

  • Life is not a school where there is one solution to one problem, and there’s just one way to get to it. Rather, there could be multiple solutions and unique ways to reach your goal, and not all of them need to make sense to someone else.

  • Don’t just see things and accept them as is cause your first impulses are likely to be wrong. Instead, look at things from as many angles as possible and analyze them in-depth. There’s nothing wrong with asking for additional opinions, but still making your own decisions.

  • View things from others’ perspectives, and you’ll discover new possibilities. First, imagine what happens when you choose one over the other? Now, what happens when you choose the second?

But that’s just my take. Comment and share yours.
