Can you trust your senses?

  • Some scientists once believed atoms were the smallest particle before sub-atomic particles got discovered. Many thought that Disney and Marvel’s movies were real until they learned about CGI and green screen effects. I once met someone who believed actors in movies actually dies when they get shot in a scene. Some high on drugs hallucinate, see things that don’t exist, and consider it a reality. Sure, now they might know better, but there was a time when they used to believe it. It was all real to them and was their reality.

  • We build and accept a simple world based on limited experiences we can get in our limited time. Sure, we came a long way because of our senses, but they are not always right. So, the key is not to blindly trust our minds.

  • We’re not always aware of everything going on to make the right decision. So, don’t rush to make conclusions about anything. In addition, our senses are limited in range, and there’s always something to miss. There are high and low sound vibrations we cannot detect. There are laws of the universe we cannot comprehend. There are simple magic tricks we cannot decipher. So, it’s our job to be self-aware by questioning our instincts, patterns, and assumptions and not get deceived by our senses.

But that’s just my take. Comment and share yours.
