Focus your Attention

-
Today, we’re overloaded with notifications. There are so many news, social media, and entertainment apps competing for our attention. Almost every hour or so, if not every minute, we check our emails and other messaging apps to see if anyone has texted us.
-
The most popular apps on our phones are free because tech companies are after our attention. So if our attention is so valuable to these billion-dollar companies, why is it not the focus of our attention?
-
Distractions are inevitable. There’s no way one can be focused all the time and be free from errors. Conversely, it is possible to avoid making some mistakes if one does not react to every interruption.
-
Focusing our attention in itself is a habit , so to achieve that, we need to change our intention to focus our attention.
-
There are only so many hours in a day, so we have to prioritize the people and projects that matter. It is not always important to keep up with the latest news, TV shows, articles, and videos.
-
So, turn off your notifications, put your phone in another room if you need to, put yourself on an information diet and do what you said you would do. Stay in the moment and give your full attention to what is important at that moment. Then, perform deep work and focus on getting things done.
But that’s just my take. Comment and share yours.
