Stoic of the Day (“we”, “us”, or “the site”) respects your privacy. This policy explains, in plain language, what little information this website collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. This is a simple editorial blog, built to collect as little about you as possible.
We do not sell your data. We do not run invasive trackers. We use a privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics tool that cannot identify you, and we only ever hold your email address if you choose to subscribe to the newsletter. That is essentially the whole story. The rest of this page fills in the detail.
Stoic of the Day is an independent publication written and operated by Garv Chawla. If you have any question about this policy or your data, you can reach us at hello@stoicoftheday.com.
Analytics. We use a privacy-friendly analytics service to understand which articles are read and roughly where visitors come from. It is cookieless and collects only aggregate, anonymized information such as page views, referring sites, browser type, and country. It does not set tracking cookies, does not build a profile of you, and cannot be used to identify you personally.
Newsletter. If you choose to join the email newsletter, we collect the email address you provide, and nothing more. It is used only to send you the newsletter and is handled by a third-party email service provider on our behalf. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email, after which your address is removed.
Server logs. Like almost all websites, our hosting and content delivery provider may automatically record standard technical information, such as IP address and browser type, for short periods, purely to keep the site secure, available, and working. We do not use these logs to identify or track individual readers.
We do not run comments, user accounts, or logins, so we do not collect names, passwords, profiles, or comment data of any kind.
This site does not use advertising or tracking cookies. The only thing we store on your device is a small local setting that remembers your light or dark reading preference, so the site looks the way you left it. It stays on your device, is not sent to us, and is not used to track you.
Some articles, particularly book recommendations, may contain affiliate links, including links through the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program. If you click one and make a purchase, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. We only link to things we genuinely think are worth your time. See our Disclaimer for more.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your information. The limited data described above is processed only by the service providers that help us run the site, namely our analytics tool, our email newsletter provider, and our hosting and content delivery provider, and only so they can perform that service. We may also disclose information if we are legally required to do so.
You are in control. You can:
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA, including the right to access, correct, or erase your data. We are happy to honor these requests.
This site is intended for a general, adult audience. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect any information from anyone under 16.
We may update this policy from time to time as the site evolves. When we do, we will revise the date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be made clear.
Questions about your privacy or this policy are always welcome at hello@stoicoftheday.com.
Free, practical, forever.
