Higher vs. Lower Pleasure

Higher vs. Lower Pleasure

  • There are levels of pleasure in life. Some pleasures are better or more valuable than others. For example, the pleasure of learning things and helping others is more valuable than drinking. Pleasures like going to the gym, working out, and boxing are more valuable even though they might cause physical pain.

  • Intellectual and spiritual pleasures are better than bodily pleasures. While the higher pleasures can be immeasurable, they still are qualitatively better. On the other hand, drugs and alcohol are considered lower pleasure than reading or playing chess.

  • All pleasures have a meaning in our lives; kindness, love, sex, or accomplishment all brings pleasure. In the end, it’s on you; what kind of pleasures do YOU value and crave more?

But that’s just my take. Comment and share yours.
