Acceptance

Stoic Mind

Stoicism has a few critical habits that we should align our minds and thoughts with -

  • Deep down, we all know the truth. The first stoic habit is to accept it. Sometimes it can be hard to accept the truth, we see what we want to see, and we hear what we want to hear. So make your heart accept what your mind already knows. For many years, there has been discrimination based on gender, race, sexual orientation, but that doesn’t mean it was the right thing. There were times when women weren’t allowed to work, and it was a terrible idea to replace half of the most intelligent people with less smart men in the workforce. Don’t simply accept something just because everyone else believes in it. Ask questions. Ask why? Accept the truth and accept what’s right.

  • The second practice is to work for the common good of our society despite all our differences and work on ourselves to help each other thrive. We all can make a difference, and by helping others, we also help ourselves. So do what you can and uplift others.

  • The third practice is to limit our desires, liking, and disliking to what’s in our control. We need to learn the difference between what we want and what we truly need. So take control of your response, and don’t let your thoughts and emotions control you.

  • The fourth habit is to embrace all challenges this world has for us and be the best version of ourselves. Life can be unpleasant sometimes, but being ignorant is never ideal. We need to accept that everything happens for a reason and that what’s truly meant to be will always find its way. There are no manuals for this life , and we’ll be much more satisfied if we all go with the flow without any expectations.

But that’s just my take. Comment and share yours.
