Acceptance

What do you have to lose?

  • We, humans, grip so tightly to life, sometimes harder than we should, and that attachment is the root of all fear of death. Yet, even when we practice non-attachment, we feel secure and comfortable with some people, and we forget that eventually, everybody leaves.

  • We’re not the same as we were a year ago, and our wants constantly change, so understand your motivation and intentions behind what you’re doing. Maybe you’re losing more by not doing what you should do. Perhaps you’re nervous about a painful death or even more of being alone, but remember that you can add happiness to your life at any point. Don’t let anything ruin your life just because of your fear.

  • So, what are you afraid of losing? It could be a loss that is material in nature, and for others, it can be something more emotional. For some, it’s the loss of their youth, which ordinarily brings irreversible effects of aging. For you, it could be your comfort, money, companionship, or security? Whatever it is, understand that we have nothing to lose in the grand scheme of things because nothing in the world belongs to us.

But that’s just my take. Comment and share yours.
