Fundamental parts of stoic philosophy

  • One of the fundamental parts of stoic philosophy is to see the event instead of attaching ourselves to it, to see it without any labels or expectations. It’s all about how you look at the situation, so you decide how to look at it. Be mad or happy; the past won’t change. Remember that you’re always in control and that there’s opportunity in almost everything that happens to us. Understand that all we control is our thoughts and our mind. We do not control others and their responses. So, accept things outside your control as they are and have gratitude. There’s no need to worry about the petty things of your daily life. It doesn’t matter in the long run. Do your work and push yourself forward.

  • The second step is to direct your actions for yours and the common good. Are you taking the right steps to achieve your goals? Are you helping others? Don’t just talk about doing things. Be determined and make sure your words match your actions. Do it.

  • The third is to practice fairness and objectivity. Humans are constantly judging, judging the weather, people around us, and whatnot. We need to alter our perspective to feel better and control our emotions and perceptions.

But that’s just my take. Comment and share yours.
