The person you want to be

The person you want to be

  • It’s impossible to be the best musician on day 1. You can’t be the best parent on day 1. You can’t be the best businessperson on day 1. You can’t be the best sales guy on day 1. You can’t be the best at anything on day 1.  So, don’t expect quick success.

  • To become the person you want to be is a  lifelong process, so remind yourself that you’re still in the process and that every experience and piece of information will help you get closer to it. Start by taking some time to reflect on what’s important to you , what your priorities are, and who you want to be.

  • There are steps between where you are right now and where you want to be.  So, start somewhere, figure out the in-between stages, and do what you have to do.

  • Is there anyone you admire? Are there any people you aspire to be like? And how do you differ from them? What changes can you make to become more like them?  Observe the habits of the person you want to be, and then put in the effort to emulate them.

  • In order to become the best you, you must act , not just wish and hope. An archer can’t hit a target she didn’t aim for. Discover what skills you have acquired and determine if there are other avenues where you can apply them.

  • What kind of future do you see for yourself? Having answered that, do you think your current habits, routines, and behavior will help you become who you want to be?  If not, what is it that you wish to change about yourself? Conversely, what is it about you that you are likely to regret long-term?

  • You already are the person you want to be if you’re thinking about it. In fact, whatever your own personal desires are, they are already within you.  You just need to figure out HOW to become this person.

But that’s just my take. Comment and share yours.
