Test your instincts!

-
Often we’re told to listen to our gut, listen to our heart, and listen to what our bodies are telling us. Some will suggest that you pay attention to your gut but keep in mind that your gut is a risky guide.
-
Our senses are wrong many times, and we use our senses to verify inaccurate information. Intuition is good, but even intuition works best when it comes from experience. So apply some healthy level of rational skepticism to your senses, hold them suspect, analyze them , and question their accuracy from time to time. Trust your instincts, but test and verify them. Don’t just blindly follow your instincts and do what “feels” right.
-
Sometimes, we get carried away in our own thoughts and feelings, especially when we have an emotional attachment to the person or the situation. Try not to get swept up in your own emotions and avoid rash reactions. Often just measuring a thing goes a long way toward fixing it.
-
In reality, events are what we label them. So, rather than lament and curse them, observe them, examine your perceptions, and decide what you can do about them. Understand and challenge yourself to challenge your instincts and your negative thinking patterns.
-
Ensure that your circumstances are within your control before feeling helpless. There might be circumstances that you cannot control, so why even feel vulnerable and helpless at all? Why keep a victim mindset?
But that’s just my take. Comment and share yours.
